I find myself lately clinging to the old ways. Simple dinners, buying meat from a butcher shop, sewing, knitting, and slowing down.
It just makes me think that there is a purpose in these things. A satisfation from using fresh eggs gathered in an apron you made.
Share with me something you do the old way.

I love this thread! Like you I am trying to keep things on the simple (old fashioned) side. One thing I always try to do is make homemade desserts. If I'm bringing desserts to somebody's home, cupcakes for my kids' classroom or just sweet treats for my family, I always bake some thing at home. I don't always make things from scratch though...hey, I'm "Betty" not "Martha" :D.
I got a wild hair a few weeks ago and borrowed a patch of my dad's backyard to plant some beets, carrots, and broccoli. I've started buying my meats from a butcher shop, too. I've also been making my own baked goods from scratch at home. They taste so much better than store bought and I like knowing what 100% of the ingredients are that my family is consuming.
Your thread got me thinking....What do I do the old fashioned way? I nearly always cook from scratch. I love to make homemade soups. I like to write letters to friends on pretty note paper. I like to take my shopping bag to the store. I reminds me of when I was a child, running to the corner store for my mum with a bag to fill up for potatoes. I guess it's old fashioned? Hopefully, it's coming back into style.
