Looking for motivation

Monday, December 15, 2008
I have not been running much lately. There is no specific reason- just missing mojo. I am planning on running a half marathon in February, but I have got to get my butt in gear. I have not run over 6 miles in a while. I run for me in a lot of cases, but I have helped causes in the past.

This year I hope to cover my running shirt in ribbons. The ribbon does not have to be for a individual who has been effected by breast cancer. I will also sew on ribbons for a person you choose to honor- a person who has encouraged you or is a personal hero. That is what I need to do honor the people effected by breast cancer and find my inspiration to run.

So I am asking for a little accountibility. You can post a comment or email me a person you want to remember, honor, or thank for encouraging you. You will be assigned a number to correspond with the ribbon. I will then sew your ribbon on and photograph it along the way. Please title your email- Jodi get your but in gear!

Jodi what a wonderful tribute!

I'd like to honor my friend Jean, who died of ovarian cancer 13 years ago. Jean was a treasure and to the end she fought for her life with grace and dignity. She left behind a husband and 2 children. We all miss her.

I'd like to honor my dear friend, Elsie. She's been my friend for over 20 years and we've shared many glasses of wine discussing life. I learned many things from her but these three are on the top of the list:
1. Put the date on everything! Everything! (use a sharpie) Years from now you won't remember when you got it or who gave it to you.
2. Don't save your best stuff for a special occasion, use it today because today IS special. That date you're waiting for might not happen, then you would have never used your beautiful things. Even if you're by yourself, use the best China and Silver!
3. Elsie has said to me many times, "Brenda, if I could do it all over again, I wouldn't have cared what the house looked like, I would have got down on the floor and played with my kids. I wouldn't have yelled and screamed to clean the house on a Saturday morning; we would have gone outside to play..together."
So I did what she didn't do.
Thanks Elsie!
